Pantry News

The Pantry continues to operate, rain or shine, in heat or cold. We are so grateful for the loyal support of our volunteers, congregation, community and local businesses. We are grateful to the Communications Commission for working with Walter and Sign Stop to create this sign that will better direct our donors to our after hours drop-off bins.

A huge thanks to Temple Beth Am and Yorktown for Justice; their food drive as an MLK Day of Service created eight (8) carloads of food supplies for the pantry, a total of over 1200 usable items. We also benefitted from the Yorktown Girls Lacrosse Team’s Hungry Hearts Food Drive. The Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick’s Church has also been a consistent donor.

In February we once again held the annual Souper Bowl of Caring campaign. In addition to cans collected, we received nearly $150 in monetary donations.

40 Cans for Lent invites us to donate 40 cans to the pantry over the 40 days of Lent and to do eight weekly practices that raise our awareness of the lives of those experiencing food insecurity. This pilgrimage isn’t simply about giving food. It’s also helping us see people around us in new ways and the challenges of a food-insecure life. Let’s walk in the wilderness with those experiencing food insecurity and supply our pantry for its ministry
