The FPCY pantry continues to run smoothly with support from the congregation, Feeding Westchester, the Yorktown community, Knights of Columbus, Hilltop Hanover Farm, the Garden of Hope, and our volunteers. Our numbers seem to be declining (140 families per pantry in July and August vs 170 in early 2021), but changes to some government programs could cause that to change at any time. We continue to operate with a drive by distribution model.
Our pantry continues to rely heavily on the “item of the month” from the congregation; for several months we have highlighted canned fruit, which is a constant and chronic need for us as it is hard to acquire affordably at any of our other sources. Many thanks to Pam Darreff, Deb Farrell, Sue Caruso, Miranda McGill and her Girl Scouts, Yorktown for Justice and the congregation for enabling a successful school supply distribution. So far we have helped over 200 students prepare for the new year.
