November 2015 Church School Chalkboard

Happy Fall to you all! We have some exciting things to share with you from Church School. First up, the children experienced a wonderful Communion lesson taught by our very own Pastor Tami. The children gained a much greater understanding of what Communion is and we encourage our Church School families to bring their children to Communion. (the first Sunday of every month).

In Fellowship Hall we had our Harvest Party, with lots of Fall fun and games, paint-a-pumpkin, thankful crosses, and fall crafts, popcorn and a very special snack courtesy of Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm, honey crisp apples and apple cider doughnuts!! They were delicious!

We had a special guest during our “Creation” gathering time, Wendy Whetsel, who shared with us her collection of seashells, rocks, feathers and crystals and shiny stones. A delightful display of what God has created.

In our Re:form classroom (7th Grade and up) the kids are exploring the Old Testament, starting at the very beginning with Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham & Sarah, Jacob and Joseph. They took time out to pack treats for their canine and feline friends who attended the blessing of the animals.

In our Connect classroom (5th/6th Grades) the focus is exploring the New Testament. They are currently studying the early life of Jesus and will later transition to Jesus’ Ministry, Jesus as the Savior and his Apostles.

In the Spark classrooms (PreK through 4th Grade) we have completed the “Creation” unit and will begin our next unit on November 1st, “Fruit of the Spirit” Galations 5:16-26! God’s Spirit a spirit of love helps us to live well together.

Conversation sparks include:

  • What is your favorite kind of fruit?
  • What is the hardest fruit of the Spirit to live by?
  • Do you think some of the fruit of the Spirit are more important than others? Why or why not?

A Family Activity: Make a Fruit of the Spirit Fruit Salad! Create a beautiful fruit salad using nine different kinds of fruit. As you enjoy eating it together, see if you can memorize all nine fruits of the Spirit.

Our special event this month in the Fellowship Hall is on November 29th where we will have an Advent/Nativity Fair and Christmas Tree decorating. All grades are invited and children are welcome to bring a friend.

Some gentle reminders:

1. Please register your child if you haven’t already.

2. Please fill and return Photo opt-out form.

3. Please fill and return Allergy form.

Thank you all parents for sharing your wonderful children with us and to our terrific staff for helping them on their faith journey.

Peace to you all,

Liza Placido and Michele Mosca, Church School Superintendents
