Running our Electric Meter Backwards

Our Bookkeeper, Stephanie Hare, reports that our last electricity bill had only the minimum, basic service charge of about $48. We generated all the electricity we needed using our solar panels, and in fact “rolled over” energy credits to our next bill. You can see above in a chart for the last week, the green area is where we are producing excess energy and rolling the meter backwards. (The red area is overnight, when we are using energy from the grid).

Our monitoring application tells us that so far we have saved 31,384.87 lb of CO2 emissions, which is the equivalent of planting 790.47 trees!
