Join us this Summer for Mission Trips!

Join us this Summer for a Mission Trip! The Mission Commission is pleased to offer two exciting opportunities to grow in your faith, bond with members of our church family, and be of service with and advocate for our neighbors near and far.

Registration deadline for both trips is March 15.

July 15 – 22, 2017, we will travel to Maryland to assist with the STAIR program at the First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis. Start The Adventure In Reading reaches 2nd graders from local elementary schools that read below the appropriate reading level for their age group. Their Summer Reader’s Theater Program continues emphasizing the importance of reading, using the vehicle of plays adapted from popular children’s books. We will be serving as counselors, working with the children on reading, crafts, and the plays in preparation for the performance for family, friends and volunteers. This trip is available to adults, college and high school students who will be entering 10th grade in the fall (rising 9th graders are invited to participate if a parent or guardian is attending as well).

July 29 – August 6, 2017, marks FPCY’s return to the Dominican Republic. This year we will travel to the village of Caimonial to work in partnership with the community to repair houses and volunteer in an organic tree nursery. Bridges works to empower communities adversely affected by poverty, deforestation, and high emigration rates on agricultural, health, education and youth programs, helping residents to make their communities better places to live and thrive. This trip is open to adults, college students, and youth who are entering 11th grade and up.

Registration information is available in the office, the Youth Lounge and from Steph Hare. Questions? Call, text, or email Steph: 914-826-1227, youth@fpcyorktown.org.
