2017 Mission Trip Informational Meetings on January 8 and 22

Hear ye! Hear ye! It’s time to get excited about Summer Mission trips!

The Mission Commission has two very exciting opportunities that we want to tell you about, so come to an informational meeting at noon on January 8th or 22nd!

In July (July 15-22), we’ll be sending a group to Maryland for a week to work with at The Center, a ministry of the Presbytery of Baltimore. Groups staying at The Center are immersed in an urban issue—such as poverty, education, the environment, or immigration—and participate in hands-on experiences with local congregations. Groups spend time with our staff to reflect on shared experiences through the lenses of Christian faith and social change. This trip is open to adults and youth who are entering 10th grade and up (rising 9th graders may also participate if a parent or guardian is also going on the trip).  Click here to check out The Center in action.

And then (July 29- Aug 6) we return to the Domincan Republic with Bridges to Community. This year, we’ll travel to the village of Caimonial to work in partnership with the community to repair houses. Bridges works to empower communities adversely affected by poverty, deforestation, and high emigration rates on agricultural, health, education and youth programs, helping residents to make their communities better places to live and thrive. This trip is open to adults and youth who are entering 11th grade and up.

**If you’re thinking about the DR trip, now is a great time to check your passport and make sure that is valid through the end of 2017!

So take a look at your summer calendar now and come to one of the info meetings on either Jan 8th or 22nd! We’ll be discussing both trips at both meetings, so you only have to attend one meeting session. Bring your interest, bring your questions!
