Reflections on Our Youth Minstiry

As of April 1st, I will be beginning a new job for a global technology company in lower Westchester. I had the privilege and joy of serving as your interim Youth Coordinator.

As I reflect upon these past few month’s experiences, I am proud of all our accomplishments thus far…the consistent group of attending youths, the ever increasing number of events, the enthusiastic engagements and dedication of both the Design Team and the monthly Program Team leaders, the Youth Group’s presence on the church’s website, and so much more!

The accomplishments since the start of this program year give much hope for this ministry. If we are to enact upon the vision of this ministry, which is to provide our youth and their friends a community which Surrounds them with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships; Engages youth in the joys and traditions of the Christian faith; Energizes youth to extend the love of Christ to the world, I hope you recognize the importance of your involvement and the role each of you play in the lives of

these youths. For indeed, it does “take a village”. If we continue to introduce events and discussions that are meaningful, fun, and relevant, “they will come”.

I’d like to leave the youth with this verse…”Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT)

Thank you for offering me the opportunity to serve our Lord in such a rewarding way. I pray that all of you will also hear the calling to be involved and supportive of this Youth Group ministry because only with the active engagement of both components … parents/adults and the youth, will this ministry yield success.
