Here’s what’s coming up in December and some BIG news about next summer:
Christmas Wrapping Fundraiser
Sundays, December 8, 15 & 22 during both Coffee Hours (9:00 and 11:30 am)
The Youth will be available during Coffee Hour to wrap gifts with festive paper and ribbons. All proceeds to go toward Summer 2025 Middle School and Triennium youth trips. Stay tuned for a sign-up form to help wrap. Donations of wrapping paper, ribbon and tape much appreciated.
Christmas Caroling
Sunday, December 15, 4-6 pm
Let’s bring some holiday cheer and music to members of our faith community. We’ll meet at the church, head out to homes, and return back to church for snacks. Stay tuned for more information. Drivers needed.
Summer 2025!
As we hope you experienced during our recent Peace & Justice Sunday worship services, you saw how our youth enjoyed a positive and impactful experience with this year’s 2024 Montreat Youth Conference. We are excited to inform you the Presbytery of Hudson River is already coordinating next year’s trips for Middle School and High School youth where they will have an opportunity to connect with youth from other churches across the U.S.
Here is some information about each event:
Massanetta Springs 2025 Middle School Conference
Massanetta Springs Middle School Conference is a transformational program that welcomes hundreds of middlers and their leaders from all over the country each summer. Participants attend keynotes, recreation, workshops, and worship designed by the Advocates (high school leaders) with them in mind. Encounter Groups provide an opportunity to reflect and learn alongside youth from other places, led by Advocates.
Date(s): July 10-13
Cost: (Estimated) $457 per Participant (Includes Lodging & Meals)
Intended Program Age: For students who will be rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
Note(s):
Ideal for church groups w/ Middle School Students! (It is ideal for churches to send an adult if they have a participating youth.)
Presbyterian Youth Triennium
In July 2025, the Presbyterian Church (USA) will welcome thousands of its high school age youth and their adult youth workers to Louisville, Kentucky for four days of worship, recreation, bible study, outreach, and faith formation all around the theme of “As If We Were Dreaming”.
Date(s): July 28 – 31
Cost: (Estimated) $500 per Participant
Intended Program Age: Youth Participants (YP) who are entering freshmen through graduated seniors in high school and are active in PC(USA) or Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Youth Participants do not have to be official church members.
Note(s):
We are currently planning to attend as a Presbytery delegation. Additional adults are needed to help plan fellowship opportunities, etc.
NEXT STEPS
Put these events on your calendar as you plan out 2025 summer activities for your youth. If you are an adult interested in chaperoning, please let us know.
The Presbytery planning team is looking to get a rough estimate of attendees by December 20, 2024. Please let Tami or Kaycee know by December 13, 2024 if your kids are interested in attending either Massanetta Springs Conference or the Triennium. Interest is not a commitment, but a way to help us know how many people we should plan on attending.
We don’t want the cost to be the inhibitor for the youth to have a wonderful faith-filled experience. Scholarships for some of these events is available. We will also be planning some upcoming fundraising activities to support these trips.
