Church School News October 2017

Church School is off to a great start! A terrific cadre of new and returning teachers met on September 10 to prepare for the first day with the children on September
17. The teachers were commissioned during the service at Downing Park. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who are volunteering your time and energy this year!

We will be lifting our singing voices even more than usual, with this year’s theme: “Sing To the Lord a New Song”! During the Gathering Time at the start of each Church School morning, we will practice a new song for each Bible story rotation. Our first unit, on Ruth, features the song “O God, you are my God” – ask your children to teach it to you!

Future units for grades Pre-school through 4th include the Burning Bush, the Good Samaritan, and Doubting Thomas – we are looking forward to making music that goes with these and other stories! And of course, in addition to musical connections, your children will be engaging with these lessons through the Art, Cooking, Bible Skills and Games, and Science rotations.

Our Connect (5th and 6th Grade) and Re:Form (7th Grade and up) groups have an exciting year ahead connecting with new and old friends while exploring their faith together. They are being led by two fabulous teams of teachers. We are also grateful for the youth volunteers serving as assistant teachers in the rotation centers.

It is not too late to register your children! You can register online at myfpcy.org, or feel free to just come on Sunday (and see Jessica Mayes or Abby/ Andy Cross for help with the registration process).

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Peace,
Jessica Mayes, Abby & Andy Cross
