Operations Commission

The Operations Commission is responsible for maintaining and improving our facilities and properties, and in doing so supports FPCY’s work in our community and beyond. Our sanctuary is over 175 years old and other parts of the facility range in age from 20 to nearly 70 years. Thanks to the diligence of many over the years, we continue to enjoy what has been passed down to us while we seek to ensure the same for future generations.

We meet monthly to discuss finances as well as ongoing and anticipated projects. There is always work to be done and it is communal in nature, including but certainly not limited to painting window trim, weeding our various gardens, re-setting bluestones, moisture-proofing the basement, maintaining the health of our various plantings, and monitoring energy usage. One of our biggest draws is our annual Spring Cleanup which typically involves a wide cross section of Church members and neighbors, but barely a week goes by when you won’t find a Commission member busy on some project related to maintenance or property improvement. We seek new ideas and fresh faces; no special talents are needed, and we welcome all who might be interested in trying us out.
