News from the Knitting Groups

Our Prayer Shawl group gave 25 blankets to “Project Linus” this month. The group has been knitting for Project Linus for more than five years. With chapters in all 50 states, Project Linus’s mission is to provide love, a sense of security, comfort and warmth to children in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

The blankets created by groups such as our Prayer Shawl group are picked up and distributed to hospitals, shelters, social service agencies and anywhere that a child might be in need of a hug. Our number of knitters are fewer at this time, but the group members are working to keep their many commitments. At present the knitters are Terri Froelich, Gail Frost, Sue Nelson, Aloha Hicks, Fran Schiel, Odette Watthews and Marianna Sherman. Our fellow knitter, Fran Schiel, is recuperating from a fall, but it is hoped she will be knitting again sometime soon. Project Linus is just one of many places that receive lovingly knit blankets by our Prayer Shawl Ministry group. Contact Marianna Sherman if you would like to be a part of this enjoyable and worthwhile ministry.
