Practicing our Faith — Lenten and Easter Season Study

Lenten Study

What does our Christian faith have to do with our work, with friendship and
family life and with public and political life? Come explore Christian practices that nurture a way of life that can be lived with integrity in these tumultuous times. The Christian practices we will be looking at are Discernment, Honoring the Body, Saying Yes and Saying No, Keeping Sabbath, Forgiveness, Testimony, Singing our Lives, and Hospitality.

There are three different meetings times (all groups meet in the lounge):

  • Wednesdays evenings at 7:30pm: February 13 thru April 3 (2/13 study begins at 8:30pm)
  • Thursday mornings at 10am: February 14 thru April 4
  • Sunday mornings at 9:30am: February 17 thru April 7

The book, Practicing Our Faith, edited by Dorothy Bass, will be available starting
February 3. (Books are free; study participants may make an optional donation
toward the cost of the books if they wish.)

Easter Season Study

We will continue our exploration of time-tested practices that nurture the Christian way of life: Household Economics, Shaping Communities, Healing and Dying Well.

There are three different meetings times (all groups meet in the lounge):

  • Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm: April 10 thru May 8
  • Thursday mornings at 10:00am: April 11 thru May 9
  • Sunday mornings at 9:30am: April 14 thru May 12

Adult Faith Journey: Embracing a Life of Meaning

Best-selling author Kathleen Norris gives us a way of exploring what matters most if
we are truly seeking a meaningful life:

  • faith matters – to what do we give our hearts?
  • the Bible matters –it is our collective story;
  • community matters;
  • place matters; and
  • we matter – what does it mean to be in God’s image?

Sunday evenings at 7pm in the Lounge
