On Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m., the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown Concert Series will
present its final concert of the 2017-18 season, featuring Concertino New York directed by Simona
Frenkel. The concert will feature the music of J.C. Bach, Leo Délibes and Antonin Dvorák performed by the Concertino New York and the Women’s Choir of the First Presbyterian Church.
Founded by Simona Frenkel in New York City in 2011, Concertino New York showcases some of the finest professional musicians in the greater New York area. The ensemble specializes in the juxtaposition between old and new: in early music and contemporary classical repertoire. The group’s performance practice reflects the spirit and style of the period in which the music was composed. The members of the ensemble are Simona Frenkel, artistic director, piano and harpsichord, Emilie-Anne Gendron, violin, Gabriel Schaff, violin, Sarah Adams, viola, Louise O Dubin, cello, and Ellen Gruber, oboe. The emergence of the Women’s Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown founded by Simona Frenkel in 2015, reflects a national trend of women’s choirs who are steadily taking center stage. Its mission is to reveal the strength, versatility and beauty of women’s choral repertoire and to provide talented and dedicated female musicians with exceptional musical and interpersonal experiences. The Women’s Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown performs high quality classical and contemporary music.
A reception follows the performance. A donation of $20 is suggested.
