In Search of a Silent Night — Advent 2018

Advent is the season of anticipation and preparation for Christ’s coming into our world. We get ready to celebrate Jesus’ birth so many years ago in Bethlehem, and we await Christ’s second coming to fulfill God’s promises and intentions for our world. Perhaps what we all long for is the love and peace we see brought to life in a stable on that silent night when the Word became Flesh and dwelt among us.

How will we prepare ourselves to welcome the Christ child into our lives and our world? This year marks the 200th anniversary of the beloved hymn “Silent Night,” which seems like the perfect opportunity to think more deeply and practice more intentionally what it means to keep silence. Christmas is a time of hustle and bustle, songs and sounds and lots of noise. How might slowing down and quieting the frantic pace of our lives help us experience the mystery and miracle of Christmas in more meaningful ways?

This Advent, join us for worship as we learn how silence can enrich our faith and our lives and more fully prepare our hearts and our world for Christ’s coming.

See you in church,
Tami
