Songs of the Heart and the Wanderer

March 17th at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday evening, March 17th at 7:30 p.m. the Yorktown Presbyterian Church Concert Series will offer its third concert of the 2017-2018 season featuring New York City professional singers and newly established Cortlandt Manor residents Contralto Kirsten Sollek and Baritone Richard Lippold in their first joint Westchester performance with songs of Mahler, Vaughan Williams, and Samuel Barber.

Ms. Sollek’s solo appearances include the Bach Collegium in Japan, Kansas City Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia,  Pacific Symphony, Tafelmusik in Toronto, Seattle Baroque, and the Musica Angelica Baroque in Los Angeles. Her discography includes recordings on BIS, Harmonia Mundi, Cantaloupe, and Naxos.

Mr. Lippold’s international solo career has featured performances in Greece, Russia, France, United Kingdom, and Germany as well as the United States. He has an extensive New York City choral career at Trinity Wall Street and as part of the renowned St. Thomas Fifth Avenue Choir of Men and Boys.  He has sung with the Portland Opera Chorus and is a member of the Metropolitan Opera Extra Chorus. Mr. Lippold has thirty years as a private vocal instructor in his native Portland, OR and in New York City.

Ms. Sollek and Mr. Lippold are accompanied by Alexandra Beliakovich who is a versatile Belarusian-American pianist and educator. As a performer, she appeared with the Belarusian Symphony, Belarusian Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati and Manhattan School of Music Philharmonic Orchestras, Havana Symphony Orchestra and as a recitalist in Belarus, China, Cuba, Japan, Poland, Spain and the USA. Alexandra’s recent engagements include concerto performances with the Havana Symphony Orchestra in Cuba, where her performances of Gershwin’s Concerto in F and Beethoven’s Concerto No. 5 won critical acclaim. She has been featured on the WQXR radio broadcast.

There will be a reception following the concert to meet the artists. The concert is open to all, and a donation of $20 is suggested. The church is located at 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown Hts. For additional information (914) 245-2186
