Episcopal Bishop Jake Owensby has written Looking for God in Messy Places: A book about Hope—How to find it, Practice it, Grow it. (248 O).
As he writes in the introduction: “This is a book about hope, and I have written it especially for those who refuse to yield to discouragement and despair. It’s the power that gets us out of bed in the morning and gives us the courage to face adversity.”
Throughout the book there are heartfelt examples from his and his friends’ lives. So although wretched things happen and there are no guarantees, we must be willing to hope even in the darkness, and to recognize than in this broken world, God is still present with us. At the end is a discussion and reflection guide, so this book could be used for individual or group study.
