On September 28 there will be a presbytery-wide event: “Changing the Conversation, Claiming our Voice”. Just that day, we will have a single service at 10:00 am, with church school at 9:00 am.
Often, when Christians are faced with current events and difficult issues in the world around us, we find ourselves in a dilemma: is it appropriate to engage in “politics” or should we simply say nothing at all?
Of course we should have a voice in public discourse. We just need to learn how to use it!
The Reverend J. Herbert Nelson, Director of the PC(USA) Office of Public Witness (OPW) and the Reverend Mark Koenig, Director of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations (PMUN) will lead us in an exciting presbytery-wide worship which will be simulcast from the sanctuary of Pleasantville Presbyterian Church at 10 AM. A Christian Education curriculum appropriate for adults and older kids will be provided for use throughout the presbytery, as well.
Our church will also host members from other churches which do not have the technology to show the simulcast.
