Mommy and Me
Mommy & Me – (a toddler developmental program) is a collaborative program run by the Arc of Westchester that places typically-developing 2-year-olds with children who are receiving special services through Westchester County’s Early Intervention program. The program is staffed by professionals who have experience working in early childhood as well as experience working with children who may have developmental disabilities. The children go through several transitions in a ninety-minute block while the teachers support the receptive/expressive language skills in a circle time promoting early literacy skills. There are opportunities for fine and gross motor development through motor play, art instruction, and sensory activities. One-on-one and group experiences foster social and play skills.
Caregivers will meet separately from their children to discuss family-centered and developmental topics of relevance to parenting. Separation will be encouraged as the school year progresses and the children experience a degree of autonomy.
Classes are offered Monday and Wednesday, 9:30 am – 11 am. Typically-developing 2-year-olds pay tuition to Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool of $85 per month; others receive services through Early Intervention.
