Church School Chalkboard–September 2011

 

Welcome back!
It’s September and we are looking forward to another fun and enriching Church School year! We are blessed to have a wonderful staff to lead us into this exciting 2011-2012 faith education journey. A huge thanks to our generous and gifted volunteers.

Here are some details you might like to make a note of:

Sunday, Sept. 18th:

• The Staff Orientation Breakfast & Training will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Room 1.
• The commissioning of the Church School staff will take place at the 10:45 a.m. service.  All staff volunteers are urged to attend.

Sunday, Sept. 25th:

• Our Church School program will begin! The Church School hour will run from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.  Our curriculum/schedule will be posted on the Church School bulletin board down the hallway from Fellowship Hall as well as on the website. Please remember to bring in your child’s $5.00 snack money contribution for children in the PreK – Grade 5 classes.  Your child can give it to his/her teacher or you can give it to either Amy or Beth Coccodrilli in Fellowship Hall on Sept. 25th. Thanks!
• Blessing of the Backpacks! Pastor Chip will be blessing all student backpacks, so be sure to have your children bring their backpacks to either of the church services on the 25th!

*Registration Forms:
You should have received Church School Registration Forms in the mail. If you have not yet done  so,  please complete and return yours as soon as possible to:  Beth Coccodrilli at 8 Knollwood Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567 or you may also deliver it or mail it directly to the church office, Attention: Beth or Amy Coccodrilli. Thank you very much!

We will be utilizing “The Covenant” curriculum from Cornerstones Publishing Company.  Themes throughout the school year will include:  Noah, Ten Commandments, Messengers of the Covenant, Prodigal Son, Woman with the Alabaster Jar, Crucifixion and Resurrection, Body of Christ, and Kingdom Parables.

New in 2011-2012! We are planning to supplement “The Covenant” with an over-arching mission focus entitled, “Clean Water for All God’s Children!” which is produced by Living Waters for the World, a mission organization of the Presbyterian Church USA.  The use of this additional instructional material was inspired by Pastor Chip’s Advent sermons of last year.  Our hope is to develop in our children an awareness of the global need for clean water!  The first four weeks of Church School will “kick off” with a focus on the need for “Clean Water for All God’s Children.” For more  information on this initiative, visit their website:  www.livingwatersfortheworld.org .
