Our Church School year has begun! Thanks to our wonderful staff of volunteers and the support of the Church School Committee, the 2011-2012 program is off to a great start. We are jump-starting our Church School year with the supplemental “Clean Water for All God’s Children” curriculum. This four-week instructional program will provide all students in the Church School the opportunity to better understand the global need for clean water. This will be learned through a variety of age appropriate hands-on experiences through song, art projects, multi-media and an intergenerational water walk planned for October 16th!
This year, we will be utilizing the Cornerstone curriculum “The Covenant” and will start off with the story of Noah’s Ark; a nice bridge with a water-based curriculum! At the end of the month, commitment cards will be offered to the children in celebration of Consecration Sunday (Oct. 30th). We hope to impress on our children that returning to God a portion of what we have is a way of acknowledging and responding to His love. Giving back is an act of trust and love and is a part of our spiritual growth. These cards can be completed and returned to the Church School on November 6th. Please feel free to visit our Church School bulletin board which is located just off Fellowship Hall or check the website fpcyorktown.org.
*Please don’t forget – if you have not filled out a Church School registration form for your children, please do so at your earliest convenience. You can either drop it in the offering plate, or put it in the mailbox outside the church office (where blank registration forms can be found). Please remember to give the $5 (Pre-K-5th) snack contribution to your shepherd or to Amy or Beth Coccodrilli.
Until next month… Amy Coccodrilli and Beth Coccodrilli, Church School Superintendents
