Plugin Customizations

This page documents customizations that we’ve made to WordPress plugins.  The purpose of this documentation is to help us recreate these customizations should the plugins be updated.

Simple Post Preview – version 1.2.5, as of 8/29/11

Purpose of the customization: the plugin normally strips out paragraph formatting, so that multiple paragraphs appear as a single one.  This change ensures that posts are displayed with their original formatting.

In simple-post-preview/includes/view.php, at line 20, change the code from:

// Use post content or post excerpt
if($data_to_use == ‘excerpt’) {
$content = $data->post_excerpt;
} else {
$content = $data->post_content;
}

to:

// Use post content or post excerpt
if($data_to_use == ‘excerpt’) {
$content = wpautop($data->post_excerpt);
} else {
$content = wpautop($data->post_content);
}

Rotating Posts – version 1.10, as of 8/29/11

Purpose of this customization:

  1. Make the height of the “rotating posts” output 400 pixels instead of the (smaller) default.
  2. Eliminate the extra border around the post.

In rotating-posts/rotating-posts.css, in the div.rp_post_content function, change the “height:” line to read “height: 400px;”.  The updated function reads like this:

div.rp_post_content
{
height: 400px;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
overflow: hidden;
}

Also in rotating-posts/rotating-posts.css, this time in the div#rp_frame function, change the margin, padding, and border lines to read like this:

div#rp_frame
{
margin: 0 0 0 0;
padding: 0;
border: solid 0px #000;
}
